My GardenIt's week three and my garden is doing very well :) My mint has grown wonderfully so I snapped a picture of it to show you guys above. Also this week I picked up this little succulent plant at CVS. This succulent only requires 4 ounces of water every two weeks and little direct sunlight, for these reasons it will be kept inside. Check back in two weeks and I'll let you know how watering this little guy goes!

My MealWhat's cooking or lack there of? Brunch! For week three I made two little snack meals for my mother using all-organic ingredients. For the first I scrambled up some eggs, green peppers, onions, and pepper jack cheese with some turkey bacon. For my second snack I cut up a watermelon (no easy task I assure you) and some cucumber, carrots, green onions, and celery. I served these veggies with a side of balsamic vinegar dressing.

Exploring EducationFor week three I read an article titled "Big Data was supposed to fix education. It didn't. It's time for Small Data" (See link below) I really enjoyed the insight provided in this article. Essentially, this article discussed "big data" which is data that is collected from standardized testing and mandates like NCLB. This article emphasizes the importance of "small data." For example, formative assessments and student reflection. I agree completely with this article and believe that there should be a shift from big data to small. As a student and aspiring teacher I see how stressed out students can become over accountability tests that limit the student to a mere statistic. I personally feel like focusing on students themselves and their individuality can help enable them to achieve. Although I understand the need for standardized tests, I liked how this article took the focus of them and showed other viable options.
